Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Unrolled Scrolls (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. Unrolled Scrolls is operated by Dialectic Labs (“we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Dayton, Ohio.
2. Description of Service
Unrolled Scrolls is a biblical research platform providing access to sacred texts across multiple religious traditions, including Protestant, Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Ethiopian Orthodox canons, Deuterocanonical works, Pseudepigrapha, Gnostic texts, and the Septuagint. The Service includes AI-powered research tools, cross-reference systems, word study features, language learning resources, and community discussion features.
3. Subscription Plans and Billing
3.1 Plan Tiers
The Service offers the following subscription plans:
- Free: Access to the 66-book Protestant canon with limited bookmarks and no AI features.
- Scroll ($5/month or $48/year): AI scripture Q&A, full multi-tradition library access, basic cross-references, and 10 AI queries per day.
- Scholar ($10/month or $96/year): Full interlinear reader, word study, research essays, advanced AI research features, and 25 AI queries per day.
- Professor ($15/month or $144/year): All Scholar features plus long-form essays, Dead Sea Scroll deep dives, debate-ready scripts, exportable PDF sessions, and 50 AI queries per day.
3.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Annual plans are billed in full at the start of each billing cycle.
3.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until that date.
3.4 Refunds
All subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused portions of a subscription period. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days of the charge.
4. Free Tier Limitations
Free accounts are subject to the following restrictions:
- Reading access is unlimited across all traditions and texts.
- AI-powered features are not available on the Free plan.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, copy, redistribute, or republish any content from the Service without written permission.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its underlying systems.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or query the Service.
- Post content in Discussions that is abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise harmful.
6. AI-Generated Content
The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate research responses, essays, cross-references, and analysis. AI-generated content is provided for informational and research purposes only. We do not guarantee the theological accuracy, completeness, or scholarly validity of AI-generated content. You are responsible for independently verifying any information before relying on it for academic, ministerial, or personal decisions.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, branding, and underlying code, is the property of Dialectic Labs. Sacred texts included in the library are in the public domain or used under applicable licenses. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service's proprietary content without express written permission.
8. User-Generated Content
By posting content in Discussions or Notebooks that becomes visible to others, you grant Dialectic Labs a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content within the Service. You retain ownership of your content. You are solely responsible for content you post and represent that you have the right to post it.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct we determine to be harmful to the Service or other users. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ends immediately.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We make no warranties regarding the theological accuracy of any content provided through the Service.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dialectic Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Montgomery County, Ohio.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice within the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
